Busy Bee's
The Busy Bee group is for our children aged 3+ who are preparing to move on to school reception. Our aim is to help build their confidence; show them they are capable of doing things with practice; encourage teamwork, listening, sharing and turn-taking.
Giant Steps use stage 1 of the Jolly Phonics programme to teach the alphabet sounds, which is a starting point for reading and writing. The Busy Bee children quickly learn the letter sounds and corresponding songs, going on to match sounds at the beginning of words and pictures.
The Busy Bee's focus on the Prime Areas of learning which include developing their Personal and Social skills. During small group time sessions the children work together building friendships, they grow respect for one an other. They build their emotional well-being and a positive disposition to learning.
Children develop spoken language (communication and language) through quality conversations with adults and peers throughout the day. Children read frequently and engage in active stories, rhymes and poems.
Physical development promote the development of children's strength, coordination and positional awareness through opportunities to play both indoors and outdoors in all weathers.
The Specific Areas of learning is developed whilst making fun using lots of props such as number charts, board games, pompoms and tweezers, bricks, and water to aid in counting and number recognition, shapes, size, length, and weight.
We explore the world through different projects such as growing plants, looking at animals and their habitats, cooking, model-making, science experiments, and books. Our experiments include learning about germs and how they can be spread. Me mix colours when painting and explore messy activities, which include making volcanos, floating and sinking, alien super juice, making slime, witch’s potions. The list goes on.
